Inari, with 7 000 inhabitants, is located in the Finnish region of Lapland, and is the country’s largest municipality in area. Its administrative centre is Ivalo. In all, 88.6% of the population speak Finnish and 6.9% Sámi. Inari is an important reindeer herding area. Other major sources of livelihood and drivers of internationalisation are tourism and Arctic vehicle and tyre testing. The centre of Sámi culture is Inari village, where the Sámi Parliament of Finland convenes.
