The Province of Fermo comprises 40 municipalities which previously belonged to the Province of Ascoli Piceno. The capital is situated between two rivers: the Tenna and the Ete Vivo. Its agricultural and livestock markets are well known, as are the footwear, wood and leather industries. More than half of the manufacturing businesses produce leather goods and the like (including shoes).
