Bavaria boasts a unique combination of a strong economy and high quality of life. Bavaria’s mixture of high-tech and traditional industries drives Germany’s growth. As a result of its innovative strength, Bavaria was ranked second – after Switzerland – out of 45 countries in a 2022 survey comparing the quality of industrial locations. Two ways in which Bavaria represents its interests in the EU are through the Committee of the Regions and by means of its 15 Members of the European Parliament. The Bavarian Parliament has its own liaison office as part of the Bavarian Representation in Brussels.

Bavaria's researchers benefit from the EU Research Framework Programme

Bayerns Forscher profitieren vom EU-Forschungsrahmenprogramm Horizont Europa- ebenso wie bayerische Studierende, Auszubildende und Lehrende von den Erasmus+ Bildungsprogrammen. Dank Erasmus konnten im Studienjahr 2020/2021 insgesamt 6 827 Personen aus Bayern im EU-Ausland studieren. 3 184 Personen aus dem Ausland konnten mithilfe der Erasmus-Förderung für einen Studienaufenthalt nach Bayern kommen.

1.5 billion Euro for Bavaria from the European agricultural fund for rural development

Im Zeitraum von 2023 bis 2027 stehen Bayern voraussichtlich knapp 1,5 Milliarden Euro aus dem Europäischen Landwirtschaftsfonds für die Entwicklung des ländlichen Raums zur Verfügung. Aus dem Europäischen Garantiefonds für die Landwirtschaft erhalten bayerische Landwirte Direktzahlungen: im Jahr 2022 etwa in Höhe von 917 Millionen Euro.

230 million Euro for Bavaria from the European Social Funds

Rund 230 Millionen Euro erhält Bayern aus dem Europäischen Sozialfonds. Die Mittel kommen beispielsweise Menschen zugute, die Schwierigkeiten haben, einen Arbeitsplatz zu finden. Aber auch Schüler ebenso wie Unternehmer können aus diesen Mitteln Unterstützung erhalten.

577 Millionen Euro for Bavaria from the European Regional Development Funds

Die EU stellt Bayern im Zeitraum von 2021 bis 2027 rund 577 Millionen Euro aus dem Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung zur Verfügung. Diese Mittel werden vor allem eingesetzt, um die Innovations- und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der bayerischen Wirtschaft zu stärken sowie um den Klima- und Umweltschutz voranzubringen.
