Terni may not be by the sea, but it boasts the largest artificial waterfall in Europe: the Cascata delle Marmore. It is also the city of lovers: Saint Valentine was born in Terni and is buried in the basilica. Despite its status as a green city, it has always been an important industrial centre: it is home to a well-known steelworks, but also has other industrial plants.
