Lubuskie Province is characterised by its specific natural conditions and geographical location. Major international transport routes cross this region, the most forested in the country, as does the Oder River, which is largely navigable. However, the region’s natural beauty is not reflected in its GDP contribution or in high standards of living. This may be due to under-exploitation of economic development opportunities, e.g. in tourism and R&D.
