Surrounded by countryside and located close to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, Exeter is a popular tourist centre. It also has a buoyant technology sector, boosted by its University, College, and Science Park, whilst the Met Office’s relocation to the city has made it a focus for research into climate change. Parts of Exeter and rural Devon have high levels of deprivation, whilst other challenges include meeting the need for affordable housing. Devon has been allocated around £40 million in EU structural funds from 2014-2020.
