By surface area, Blekinge is the smallest county in Sweden. The naval city of Karlskrona, a UNESCO world heritage site, is the region’s capital. Other major towns include Olofström, Karlshamn, Sölvesborg and Ronneby. The Blekinge Institute of Technology is a meeting point for innovative entrepreneurs in the region.

Natura 2000 - valuable nature reserves
In Blekinge there are no fewer than 186 Natura 2000 sites. Natura 2000 is an EU network designed to protect rare species and habitats in the long term.
The digital Blekinge
The objective of ‘Digital Blekinge’ was to establish the conditions and collaborative efforts required to achieve long-term development of digital infrastructure, digitalisation and interoperability. The project had three secondary objectives: to develop a regional strategy for digital infrastructure; to establish an interoperable process; and to promote a better understanding of the effects, opportunities and threats that digitalisation entails.
Strengthened competitiveness through establishment of test arenas
The principal aim of ‘Test Arena Blekinge’ is to help small and medium-sized enterprises in Blekinge in marine technology, telecoms/IT and eHealth become more innovative and competitive by working together and via the establishment of three testing arenas. The collaboration on development brought about by the project is expected to form the basis for a long-term, sustainable testing environment at the Blue Science Park.
Techtank - strengthening competitiveness for small and medium sized tech companies
The aim of the ‘Techtank Bas’ project is to make small and medium-sized tech firms in the region more competitive. The project is a cluster initiative, with one of its long-term goals being to establish new business outreach processes in which the firms involved work together and help each other find new customers.
