Situated in the central-eastern part of Moldava’s Central Plateau, Vaslui is a predominantly agricultural county. Its business sector witnessed a shift after 1990 from heavy to lighter industries such as textile and manufacturing. Despite efforts to revitalise economic activity, the county is still confronted with a number of challenges, such as low productivity, high unemployment (with an unemployment rate of 8.5% in October 2022, well above the national average of 2.9%) and poor infrastructure.

Modernisation of the Integrated Outpatient Department of Vaslui County Emergency Hospital

The EU contributed 2 million euros to equip the Integrated Outpatient Department of Vaslui County Emergency Hospital aiming to increase the accessibility of outpatient health services for the citizens of Vaslui county. 

Extension of the Specialised Outpatient Department of Bârlad Emergency Hospital "Elena Beldimam"

The EU has allocated about 1.5 million euros for a project aiming to extend and equip the Specialised Outpatient Department of Bârlad Emergency Hospital "Elena Beldimam".

Rehabilitation of water supply system, sewerage system and treatment plants in Vaslui, Bârlad, Huși and Negreşti

The EU allocated about 46 million euros to another phase (2015-2023) of the project to rehabilitate the water supply system, sewerage system and treatment plants in Vaslui, Bârlad, Huși and Negreşti. 

Rehabilitation and modernisation of the Special Professional School "Sfânta Ecaterina" in Huşi city

EU funding amounting to 1.2 million euros has been allocated to rehabilitate, modernise and equip the Special Professional School "Sfânta Ecaterina" of Huşi city with the aim to increase the participation in vocational and technical education of young people with special educational needs.

Developing an integrated solid waste management system in Vaslui County

The EU contributed 3 million euros to a new phase (2014-2021) of a project to establish an integrated solid waste management system in Vaslui County aiming to improve the waste management service and to reduce the number of existing non-compliant landfills.

Building the Bârlad city bypass

The EU contributes 27.3 million to the building of a bypass near Bârlad city that facilitates road connections and diverts transit traffic outside the locality.
