Curaçao is one of the four countries that make up the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is the largest island in the Netherlands Antilles in terms of both area and population. Being a tropical island, it is a popular tourist destination. In addition, the financial sector, the presence of an oil refinery and trade with the US, South America and the Netherlands are important for the economy.

Biodiversity and sustainable energy
In addition, four projects on Curaçao are receiving a total of EUR 2 million from the RESEMBID programme for the protection of biodiversity and sustainable energy.
Erasmus+

EU citizenship
In the EU, Curaçao is one of the overseas territories with associated status. As a result, it is eligible for certain EU funds and partnerships. In addition to holding Dutch nationality, the people of Curaçao are also European citizens, allowing them to move and reside freely within the EU.
