Den Bosch received some EUR 1.2 million in support from the EU for the development of a hybrid learning environment. This is a physical and virtual place where people from different backgrounds from companies, schools and public administrations can learn innovative ways of using data and IT applications from and with each other. This includes dedicated training for workers, digitalisation of small businesses, etc. 

Various nature reserves in the region are given special protection under EU legislation, such as the Loonse and Drunense Duinen (dunes) and Leemkuilen (clay pits) and the Oeffelter Meent. This contributes to nature conservation and biodiversity in North-East North Brabant. 

Water remains the most important raw material for our lives. Several companies from Veghel joined forces to develop an automated and digitised water management system to closely monitor the (ground) water level. The EU contributed overEUR 660 000 in subsidies. This system allows both flooding to be detected more quickly and to better predict droughts. 

Big data is an integral part of the modern food production chain. North-East North Brabant received EU support for the creation of an ‘Agrifood DataLab’. This DataLab allows food makers to experiment with innovative data applications in the food sector (e.g. consumer behaviour, animal track and trace), as well as the training of future workers in this domain.
