Situated at the heart of the Po Valley, the province of Cremona has a thriving agriculture and agri-food sector producing traditional foodstuffs such as Grana Padano and Provolone Valpadana cheeses and Salame Cremona sausages, which are protected by European quality labels. Manufacturing, particularly metalworking and engineering, is another important sector. As regards craftsmanship, Cremona is known worldwide for the quality of its stringed instruments, with many establishments continuing the tradition of Cremona’s illustrious violin makers Antonio Stradivari and the Amati and Guarneri families.
