The Province of Lecco has a long tradition in both artisanship and manufacturing, particularly in the metalworking and textiles sectors. The metalworking and machinery industry accounts for most of the province’s exports and imports, with more than 60% of that sector’s exports going to the European internal market. Located on the shores of Lake Como and to the south of the hills of Alta Brianza, this province – some 70% of which is mountainous – belongs to the EU’s ecological network of biodiversity conservation areas.
