Pula is the largest city in Istria and the cultural and economic centre of Istria. With a population of 52 000, it is the largest city in Istria and the eighth largest in Croatia. Traditionally an industrial city known for shipbuilding, Pula is increasingly turning to tourism. The Pula Arena – the symbol of the city and one of the largest Roman amphitheatres in the world – is part of a rich tourist offering which, in addition to its monumental heritage, also benefits from the city’s geographical location and Mediterranean climate.
