Founded in 138 BC, the city of Valencia has a rich historic and cultural heritage. The Turia Gardens cross the city, while the lush orchards of the Horta de Valencia surround it, and its southern borders are defined by the Albufera Natural Park. It has around 790 000 inhabitants, its economy is based on services, and it is home to important locations such as Feria Valencia exhibition centre, the Port of Valencia and Valencia Conference Centre. The EU gave Valencia the European Green Capital Award 2024 for its commitment to climate neutrality and sustainability.
