The municipality of Brihuega has installed automatic outdoor defibrillators in six of its nine districts. This investment was co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

‘Totalitarian past: democratic present’ (Pasado totalitario, presente democrático), an Erasmus+ project, brought students and teaching staff from the IES Newton-Salas secondary school in Villanueva de la Torre together with participants from four educational institutions in Greece, Poland, Italy and Romania. They debated the vital role that democratic values play in furthering personal and social development.

In Castilla-La Mancha, EU funds have bolstered mining restoration activities, for example with the LIFE RIBERMINE project. This Spanish-Portuguese initiative is responsible for restoring the Engracia mine in Peñalén with a view to its future inclusion in the Alto Tajo Natural Park.

NextGenerationEU funds will boost local trade in the municipality of Azuqueca de Henares by redeveloping the pedestrian zones in its main shopping area, creating a ‘marketplace’ and organising training and awareness-raising campaigns on the use and management of technological tools for commerce.

Part of the LIFE programme, the LIFE CENTS4PACK project will set up an innovative recycling scheme in the city of Guadalajara, which will reward residents for sorting their waste correctly. The scheme will also digitalise the waste management cycle in order to increase collection rates.
