The Regional Unit of Karditsa has a strong farming tradition and is a place of unique natural beauty. Karditsa is the cycling capital of Greece with a network of cycle paths spanning 7.3 km inside the city and 10.5 km in the suburbs. The main sights in the municipality of Karditsa are its municipal market, Pafsilypo Park and the Thousand Trees wood (Paparantza). Lake Plastiras, in the Agrafa mountains, is a popular tourist destination and one of the most beautiful spots at the south-eastern end of the Pindus mountain range.
