Examples of projects and initiatives supported by the EU
We are the city part 2
The EU is providing roughly EUR 100 00 in funding for the project We are the city part 2. The project aims to primarily target people with a refugee background who do not or cannot work, in order to give them an understanding of volunteering. Subjects relating to volunteering, such as the fundamentals of organising placements and funding opportunities, are addressed in workshops.
Performing Arts made in Berlin 2019-2021
The project Performing Arts Made in Berlin 2019-2021 was supported with EUR 770 000 in EU funding. The project aims to improve public perception of the independent performing arts in Berlin, thereby facilitating networking between national and international industry professionals and helping to attract new visitor groups.

The project ‘We are the city part 2’ is receiving EUR 103 996.06 in support from the European Social Fund. The project aims to primarily target people with a refugee background who do not or cannot work. Subjects relating to volunteering, such as the fundamentals of organising placements and funding opportunities, are addressed in workshops in order to give participants an understanding of volunteering.
Job-oriented basic education for the care sector
The project ‘Workplace-oriented basic education in the care sector‘ is being supported with EUR 28 489.60 from the European Social Fund – covering 50 % of the total project costs, which were EUR 56 979.20. The aim of the project is to support low-skilled workers employed in Berlin care facilities who lack literacy and basic education and to improve their reading, writing and numeracy skills.
Deep Tech Award 2020
The project ‘Deep Tech Award 2020’ received EUR 20 000 in support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Since 2015, the Berlin Senate Department for Economy, Energy and Businesses has been presenting the award to companies and start-ups in Berlin.
Workplace-oriented basic training for the nursing sector
The EU is providing roughly EUR 28 500 in funding for the project ‘Workplace-oriented basic education in the care sector’. Low-skilled workers employed in Berlin care facilities are to receive literacy support and basic education in order to improve their reading, writing and numeracy skills. An additional aim is to make workers in the care sector more employable and versatile.
Deep Tech Award 2020
Since 2015, the Berlin Senate Department for Economy, Energy and Businesses has been presenting the Deep Tech Award 2020 to companies and start-ups that have developed application-oriented solutions and products based on software or hardware that stand out on account of their high degree of innovation and potential. The project is being supported with EUR 20 000 in EU funding.

The aim of the project ‘Performing Arts Made in Berlin 2019-2021(PAMiB 2019-21)’ was to improve public perception of the independent performing arts in Berlin, thereby facilitating networking between national and international industry professionals and helping to bring in new visitor groups.
