The Veste Coburg is one of Germany’s largest castles. It dominates the city of Coburg in Oberfranken.
In addition to the HUK-Coburg insurance group, which is the largest employer in the city, the manufacturing industry is a major pillar of Coburg’s economy, boasting long-established companies such as Brose, a supplier to the automotive industry, and Kaeser Kompressoren. Since 2005, Coburg has been dubbed a ‘European city’, and the Europe Direct Information Centre at the adult education institute is a contact point for schools, businesses and members of the public wishing to obtain information about Europe and the EU.
