The district of Landsberg am Lech, which stretches as far as the Alpine foothills, includes part of Lake Ammersee, the city of Landsberg with its historic old town, and a number of rural communities. The economy of this Upper Bavarian district with its approximately 121 400 inhabitants (2021) is dominated by medium-sized enterprises. In addition to enterprises which are active internationally, there are family-run craft businesses, which often ensure the continuation of traditional processes, for example in the field of beer brewing. At 2.3%, the unemployment rate in October 2022 was below the Bavarian State average.
