The Pardubice Region lies on the boundary of Bohemia and Moravia, bordering Poland to the north. Its territory is crossed by the railway line from Prague to the east and the main European watershed. It has a strong engineering industry, as well as textile, clothing and chemical industries, especially known for the production of Semtex explosives. Given its large number of important cultural heritage sites and protected landscape areas, the region is seeking to develop tourism.
