Pazardzhik Province lies on the Upper Thracian Plain between Sredna Gora and the Rhodope and Rila mountain ranges. It comprises 12 local authority areas with 13 towns and 104 villages and has a population of around 251 000 (2020 figure). It has abundant water resources and numerous reservoirs, and agriculture here is well developed. Home to Bulgaria’s largest spa resort, Velingrad, as well as more than 440 sites of cultural interest, Pazardzhik has a sound basis for the development of tourism.

Разработване на иновативни методи за контрол на основните неприятели по оранжерийните култури чрез производство на биоагенти (полезни насекоми)
EU funding to the tune of BGN 0.8 million has enabled the development of an innovative method to combat pests on greenhouse vegetables using non-chemical biological control techniques – their natural enemies (bio-agents) – and without using pesticides harmful to the environment, water, soil and people. The development project was executed in the village of Mokrishte.

The inhabitants of three villages in the municipality of Panagyurishte will soon be able to enjoy new roadways and pavements. The renovations, carried out with EU funding worth BGN 1 million, will cover Stoyan Karoleev Street in the village of Banya, Spas Karaboychev Street in the village of Popintsi and Georgi Petkov Street in the village of Levski. Under the project, 14 000 square metres of roadway will be upgraded, as will 11 000 square metres of pavement.

Fully renovated classrooms and hostels await students from grades 1 to 12 in five educational establishments in the city of Pazardzhik. The project, for which the EU has provided BGN 7.6 million, will cover the schools Georgi Benkovski, Lyuben Karavelov, Dr Petar Beron, Dimitar Gatchev and Hristo Botev.
Използване на геотермална енергия за отопление и охлаждане на общинско училище СУ „Св. Св. Кирил и Методий“, гр. Стрелча“
From 2023, the St. Cyril and St. Methodius secondary school in Strelcha will be heated with hot mineral waters. This will drastically reduce heating costs as well as harmful carbon emissions from burning coal, which is currently the main source of heating for the school. The savings made will be put towards students’ educational and extracurricular activities.
Закриване и рекултивация на общинско депо за битови отпадъци в землището на гр. Велинград, местност "Реповица"
A project to shut down and rehabilitate a municipal waste landfill site in the ‘Repovitsa’ area will reduce harmful emissions and ensure a better quality of life for the inhabitants of the municipality of Velingrad. The development project, funded by the EU to the tune of BGN 3.9 million, solves one of the main environmental problems affecting Velingrad as regards reclamation of the landfill site, which has not been used by 2017.
